Whatever port your web server is running at. I think it might be 8080 by default but I can't recall (I already had something running on that port before I installed the SageTV web server).

Yes. The skin will put it all together so it looks like this when it makes requests to your SageTV web server:

Code:
http://username:password@ipaddress:portnumber/

Thanks.

Is there a way to make the skin a bit wider, to match the other skins (Enigma skins for example)?

Sure, in the same UserConfig.inc change "SkinWidth" to something wide enough. Save the file then right-click on the SageTV skin and select refresh skin.

Per the screenshot name, he's using JSMeter meters/skins (as am I).

Would it be possible to add Now Playing to this app, along with friendly client naming? This was very useful in the SageTV Vista/Win7 gagdget. One issue may be that I don't know that there is an RSS feed for NowPlaying.

Would it be correct to assume that *any* data that the Webserver html interface displays could be available to the Rainmeter skin?

Yes as long as someone is willing to parse it and stick it into a meter to be displayed.

I might take a look at it later this week; since it's probably just parsing for one thing on the main/home page, it's probably not that hard... though, I suppose you'll want "all playing" items to show up for all devices, yes? (I only have two installed PC clients at the moment so it might be a bit hard to test...)

I was helping jusjoken briefly with some rainmeter integration... I found it oddly surprising that Rainmeter does not provide a way to parse/expose JSON data... given that JSON is widely used as a means to transfer data over the net... I only looked briefly at the apis.

If JSON processing was possible, it would seem almost trivial to expose just about any sage information using either sagex remote apis or the phoenix remote apis.

The skin parses returns from the webserver using lua, and if I knew then what I know now, I probably would have written it much more generally using this approach. It's pretty crude as it is, but it should be able to handle any of the rss lists returned by the server.

What is returned via RSS feeds? Is the Now Playing info available? As I described above, I found it very useful to have the now playing and to see where the playback was in the file - for example 15:30 of 30:00.

As an aside, I found installing the Sage skin quite easy but not most other add on skins. Am I the only one who finds Rainmeter kind of painful to use?

Most of the plugins/skins that I download are zip files and if I rename them to rmskin and try to open them then Rainmeter complains that they aren't valid rmskin files. So I try to place all of the files in the correct folders and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. And then byt default some of them seem to appear in the top left of my screen which I may not notice so I think they aren't working. I guess Rainmeter is very powerful and flexible but that comes at a cost. It sure would be nice if they had a centralized plugin repository like SageTV added with V7.

I don't think "Now Playing" is an RSS feed, but it can be returned as an xml file, which would make it a little easier to parse.

I don't think you're supposed to rename them -- they're zip files -- what happens if you unzip them instead?

That is what I did at first, I didn't try renaming until I saw that is what you do with the Sage skin.

You get a bunch of files, including inis. But I may have been putting them in the wrong folder. I just looked at the docs again I see that you are supposed to unzip into the Rainmeter skins folder.

But when I read some of the forums they say that (and this is from about 6 months ago) that the main sites with skins, such as Deviant Art, now only allow .rmskin files due to virus or malware issues. But pretty much all of the skins that I downloaded for stuff like weather and CPU temp were not valid .rmskin files and were just zip files. Maybe they were old.

What version of JSMeter are you guys using? JSMeterV? As far as I can determine from http://jsmorley.deviantart.com/art/JSMeterV-260984160 that version is from Oct 2011. Is that the latest version?
