Remote access for a Android phones

I apologize since this is not specifically SageTV related, but, I have a technical support question and I feel that the people on this forum might have some answers.

In short, I'm looking for a remote desktop solution to take control of an android phone, to see their screen, etc.

My father, 70+ years old lives half way across the country from me, and he calls me all the time with issues about his phone (can't get messages working, can't get facebook working, etc). I try to walk through over the phone and have him describe what he's seeing, etc, but, it's futile In the end I hardly ever fix his issues.

On the desktop, I have several family members that will call for help, and I have them just use chrome remote desktop and I take control of their computer and fix their problems. I need something easy like that, but for a phone. It can't require some convoluted sign up process (especially on the phone) or else it'll never work, and I'll be just trying to walk him through yet another futile experience

I can't be the only person that has this type of issue (we all have parents )

Any recommendations on easy to use solutions to help me provide technical support to my dad?

I know there is TeamViewer, LogMeIn, and bunch of others, but I'm looking to see if people have experience with these. ie, can my non-technical dad install teamviewer? is that dead simple, or would he need to then create an account, give a credit card, etc, and if so, then he's dead in the water. I can likely send him a link to the play store and say, "click the link and then 'install'" but beyond that, he's likely not going to be much use.

I am thinking of taking a trip to see him in the fall, so, maybe if I find something that does require more of a setup, I'll do the setup when I see him in the fall. TeamViewer does look promising, I just don't have a sense for what the setup would be.

I have used TeamViewer once on an android phone. This was right after it came out, and it was buggy and slow, but yes, it was very easy to use. You enter 1 code. For non-business use, it was free at that time.

Again, this was shortly after they released the app for android, so thing should have changed.

Update: Just loaded it onto my phone. I did need an account, but already had one. Ran OK (not slow, but not fast), but I was also on WiFi, so not sure how cell would work. Used same movement as phone, just using mouse. I was easily able to check my mail.

Thanks Matt. The fact that you need an account is too bad. But maybe when I go visit my dad in the fall, I'll get this all setup. I'd be OK for REAL SLOW just as long as I could see his phone and click stuff.

I already had an account, so I'm not 100% sure I needed it. It sure acted like I did though.

Thanks... Maybe I'll play around with it, install it, and maybe create an account for my dad here so when I send him the instructions he doesn't have go through an account setup process.
