I don't recall if the DMCA has been used before to remove open source projects. It's not like this project goes away, but, still it sends a clear warning to lots of other open source projects hosted on github that are not liked by the movie and recording industries. I've watched several YouTubers complain about take downs issued to them because they are showing clips of games running in emulation. And even though it isn't a valid takedown, who has the will and patience to fight these over and over. It seems to me that the DMCA combined with the recent Oracle victory we are heading into the dark ages of software programming.

To me this was inevitable after iptv.org https://github.com/iptv-org/iptv was taken down for posting unprotected URL's and this seems totally wrong The onus should be on YT and the provider to add DRM.

I am old enough to remember when it was illegal here in Canada to hook up cable using the pre-DRM America decoders to get the hi-band cable channels. The regulators pretty much told the cable companies they were responsible for the DRM. We never got CableCard but that another story.
