I keep getting a few shows the get the metadata all hosed up/crosslinked. In trying to fix, even with the newest BMT, i keep getting "ExternalId Cannot be blank!" how do i figure out what the externalid should be?

First, if your metadata was cross-linked before, then it will always be that way, until your re-import the files.

Second, in the 4.5 build it over compensated for the externalid issue, so there is a 4.5.1 build plus, you'll need the updated phoenix core services 2.0.7.1 which fixes the externalid issue that you mentioned. ie, you should never have to worry about the external id (unless you want to)

I'm glad to see that you've worked it out. Now that things are no longer "linked" hopefully it will stay that way

I have the same problem as cmaloney. It is three DVDs that were imported into SageTV7 before installing 7.0.14. I updated BMT this morning and it appears that that is when the cross-linking occurred.

If they were imported/cross linked in a prev version, then nothing 7.0.14 or bmt will fix this this. The changes to bmt only prevent it from happening, not fixing it. (just clarifying)

The best thing to do is
* remove the dvds from your import folder (move them to a location outside of your imports area).
* delete all .properties in the dvd folders
* tell sage to scan for new media (this will simply update the wiz.bin state to reflect they are gone)
* ensure you are running the latest version of bmt (and phoenix-core)
* move the dvds back into the imports area
* tell sage to scan for new media (if the bmt automatic plugin is installed, it will fetch metadata/fanart)
* verify if the items are crosslinked from the web ui (check the ExternalID of each file that you suspect is crosslinked, they should all be different, and they should have a value)

Is Cross linking fixed for sage 6x users? I have two sage servers one is on 7 and having no problems. one is on 6 ... I'm hoping there is a fix for 6x users as my server using 6 also uses media-mvps and 7 is so slow with those (so i'd rather leave it at 6x). What's the word?

The word is that no, this would still remain an issue with SageTV6. The fix for this was not a bmt fix but rather a core sagetv fix, and as a result, that fix has only been in the SageTV7 betas for now. I suspect that once the beta is finally out, then Sage may backport some fixes to Sage6, but you'd have to get a definate answer from them about this, since I don't work for, or speak for, Sage

thanks for confirming that - I've posted a question about 7x using 6x menus with mvps here: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...174#post448174

That will help me decide what to do

Cross linking is still happening. I just brought in a bunch of specials from a tv show, and they were all given the same ShowID of Eptvdbs00e00 which is causing the data to cross link. It looks like the automatic lookup isn't sure what to do with specials when it finds them on tvdb.

That's not crosslinking. This is a special case because specials don't get unique ShowIDs. ShowIDs are produced by the core.

It is a bug in bmt though... I shouldn't allow s00e00 to be in the show id

I do verify that a showid is not in use before assigning a new one, so I'm not sure how duplicates would get assigned.

I need to verify what happens when import as tv is used and the metadata isn't found... it should error out and skip the file, but it's looking like, in your case, that it's still doing the import portion.
