That's correct. Some parts of the web server do not function properly with java 8.

Correct- Jetty doesn't work with Java 8. That's why I'm stuck on v1.7. (v1.7.0_75 to be exact). You can get still download the latest version of Java 7 here, although Oracle is threatening to take it down at some point.

Been so long since I had messed with all this. But got Sage working with Java 8..

* stop sage service
* download & install Java 32 bit (ends with i586.exe)
* download & install MS 2010 C++ files (mentioned elsewhere in thread)
* reboot

Sage works fine in Java 8.... Just some of its plugins may blow up in your face if you try to use them in Java 8. Nielm's Web interface (aka the SageTV jetty web interface) being one of those.

I'm running Nielm's web interface just fine under Java 8. Just have to open Sage, go to Plugins, and hit "reset web server" every time I reboot (which isn't often), and it comes it just fine.

Well, that makes things more interesting. Maybe it's a which jar loads first during launch thing specific to Java8?
