SageTV STX-HD100 HD Extender Information Updates (Notifications only)

This topic will be used to notify thread subscribers when a firmware update is available for the SageTV STX-HD100 media extender, or other notifications about the SageTV HD extender.

Currently, these are the firmware updates since the STX-HD100 was released:

20071221:

- Fix video level on hdmi output
- Add ac3 and dts pass through over hdmi
- Fix playback issues on some files (pcm audio, indexing bug, ...)
- Improve IR led
- Many other small bug fixes

20071226:

- Fix bug that caused the unit to shutdown when some events happened at exactly the wrong time.



This thread is intended only for notifications about the STX-HD100 HD Extender.

Firmware 20080125 2 changes:

1. Fixed playback of many files submitted to us
2. Compressed output on hdmi if the receiver supports it (Select SPDIF as the audio connector in the settings)

9. Highly improved streaming in pull mode (tried up to 40mbit mpeg2 video inside mkv container )
10. Fixed seeking memory leak in mkv files.
11. Optimized large avi index
12. Workaround for bug in mov/mp4 parsing
13. Faster loading of some files
14. Fix AVI seeking to end of RIFF block
15. Improve perfomance for small PCM block
16. Fix AAC issue in MKV container
17. Updated HDMI handling
18. Fixed audio/video sync when seeking in some mov/mp4 files.
19. Fixed audio/video sync when seeking in large avi files.
20. Tweaked stuttering detection
21. Fix bug when watching live tv using latest server release
22. Modified audio output modes so hdmi compressed is only sent if spdif is selected in the audio configuration
23. Fix hdmi audio when using resolution switching

Since it has been decided to use this as a generic notification topic for STX-HD100 info, rather than for just new firmware release versions, I wanted to catch up on the beta versions of the HD100 firmware that have been put out recently.

Beta firmware changes, requires SageTV server beta v6.4.2:

• improved dvd playback
• improved compatibility with some media files
• a fix for fast-foward/rewind hang
• Transport stream support
• High resolution picture support
• Improved empty buffer detection
• Placeshifter mode

Changes for beta version 20080519 0, requires SageTV server beta v6.4.3:

• Fix DVD audio dropping or out of sync (Server needs to be 6.4.3)
• Fix playback of some h264 in mp4
• Fix missing audio in some m2t

Changes for beta version 20080523 0, requires SageTV server beta v6.4.3: Edit - The 20080523 0 update has been removed for further testing; version 20080519 0 is now the latest version.

• Updated drivers to latest version
• Fixed placeshifter connection to server using names

And adds these changes:

• Fixed digital audio output on spdif/HDMI
• Improved H264 decoding in specific streams
• Add support for mpeg stream type h264 in other containers

This update includes these changes:

• Improve M2TS playback
• Fix playback for some mp4 file that used to hang
• Fix problem that caused hang after doing rewind on dvd

It is recommended that this version of the STX-HD100 firmware be used with SageTV v6.4.

The HD100 update contains all the core updates from the HD200 firmware that are compatible, which includes most updates except standalone mode features and certain media limitations. (Some changes may need the latest server beta, SageTV v6.5.14.)

HD100 limitations vs. HD200 capabilities using the latest firmware include:

• does not support placeshifter login caching
• does not support BluRay subtitles
• does not support WMAPro audio
• not all embedded/external VobSub subtitles are positioned properly
