issues with Sagetv client 9.2.8

Help,

I am attempting to install Sagetv client 9.2.8 on Mx LInux KDE (debian bullseye)

The installer says Error: Cannot satisfy dependencies. Do you know which pkg could be causing the issue? In the mean time I will try 9.2.6 but I was hoping to use most current version that uses Java 11

Version 9.2.6 was a no go too. Now I am without a pc client. I don't like having to depend on firestick for file management.

Re getting linux server & clients to talk to each other on same pc

Okay am able to use 9.2.6 on a different instance of Mxlinux on my firestick client. The pc client may be an issue with kde not installing required pkgs in that case.

The other issue is permissions & users. What do I need for client to see files & both the client & servers to work properly? On the firestick only a few of the files I imported appear in the guide. I noticed some are root & some are user 1001

The only other factor I can think of is router & network. I don't know enough about networks to be able to fix it on my own. They are on the same subset. I also have a win 10 server that works fine. I just want the linux server onboard as well because the tuner cards are less finicky on pc linux & I have more hdd space & a more powerful cpu/ ram combo. What is wrong in my settings ? Please don't give me the answer that settings are available in a docker etc That isn't helpful to me since i won't be using that. Pci cards dont work in a docker or vm. I dont know what changed between buster & bullseye or sage versions but what used to just work is now a mess. I need fresh eyes to troubleshoot my setup.

So curious if anyone has actually installed the Linux Client on ubuntu 20.04? I kinda recall attempting to install the Linux Client like 4 years ago and it did not work at the time and the impression I was under at that time is it would not work for some reason. Has this changed that it can be installed these days?

I have a Xubuntu partition as well. I will see if I can get it working there. I only installed for a troubleshooter. My intention is to use my MX Linux debian 11 as the daily driver. It used to work great with debian 10 ( buster) version. Not sure why it won't in newer version.

here is text lintian output of client after installing with deb

I couldn't get the client to open with either java 8 or 11. It would flash open then abruptly close again. I hope you can tell me what I need to fix in my os to get sagetv working correctly with the latest version.

This install was in Mx Linux 21 based on debian 11 bullseye with xfce

Installed .deb via terminal & got

W: Repository is broken: sagetv-server:amd64 (= 9.2.8) has no Size information

will try via source file. I am very frustrated being a Sagetv user without a Docker or Unraid due to using pcie cards.

Thanks for looking, but don't kill yourself for me trying to figure out the Linux client on ubuntu. It is a nice to have for me. not a need to have, and it is definitely not critical for me. If you ever do find an answer I would be curious! Thanks and have a great day!

NP This is all for myself. I had it working great in earlier version of MX LInux. It just doesn't play nice with bullseye. It may have to do with version of app & or java as well.
