Configure Sagetv to use different Java version?

I have updated my Ubuntu Server to 20.04 and had Java 11 as the system default, however my Unifi install requires Java 8, tried to make Unifi use 11 but no luck, so system default is Java 8. However, Sagetv does not work on 8, but it does work on 11.

I remember a long time ago there was some work around to test a newer version of Java only for sagetv, now I can't find the how-to to do that. I have both versions currently installed, I just don't know how to make Sagetv use Java 11. Can anyone point me to the way to do that please?

I'm not running the Linux version but from what I can see you should be able to modify the 'startsagecore' and 'sageclient.sh' scripts to include a full path to java, rather than letting it find it based upon your PATH environment variable.

Thank you for the response, you were on the right path (which jogged my memory).....had to edit /opt/sagetv/server/sagesettings and add:

PATH=/usr/lib/jvm/java-11-openjdk-amd64/bin:$PATH
export PATH

This is another advantage to using Dockers as each application is in a self contained environment that doesn't depend on global installs for stuff like Java.

As info...SageTV 9.2.7 should now work fine on Ubuntu 20.04 and Java 8
