Drowning in fanart - make it stay away!

I configured Phoenix to disable fanart, but it keeps on getting generated. I delete it and it comes right back, at least in the local folders. It seems so far to have stayed out of userdata/phoenix/fanart (holding my breath that it stays that way).

Settings: Fanart Enabled: False
Season fanart enabled: False
Local fanarat enabled: false
Central fanart folder - default
Max images to download: 0
Delete downloaded fanart smaller than this file size: 99999 (maybe that will trash it?)

AND, having fiddled with those things, the BMT scan menu option under setup disappeared. That had happened before, and fiddling with some Phoenix configurations brought it back, but this time, it's still missing. Uninstalling/reinstalling Complementary Metadata doesn't fix it, fiddling with Phoenix config doesn't fix it.

Here's what might be doing it, though:
I had Automatic Fanart/Metadata set to True, since I wanted metadata and hoped that setting fanart to false would get me just the metadata. I suspect that's what caused all the fanart to flood in. Is there a way to just scrape for metadata and not weigh my system down with all those fanart images? I turned it back on briefly to see if that returned the BMT scan menu option (it didn't) and the images came flooding back. Now I have the worst of both worlds: too much fanart and no metadata menu.

I can get the BMT Metadata Scan menu item by telling Phoenix to reset its config. Setting local fanart to false takes it away, as does setting fanart to false - at least some of the time.

Is there no way to keep the menu item (which I find quite valuable) without having my system overrun with fanart, which is useless to me and needless clutter for my system. I delete it but it keeps coming back.
