Watch it? I've lived & worked in it for the last 40 years. There's plenty of reasons why "locals" refer to Silicon Valley alternately as Silly Con Valley and Silicon Gulch. True, there's no shortage of "colorful" personalities along with the bones of dead-and-gone companies here. And yes, I've been thru a couple of startups that died on the vine. But personally, I've always found it to be a great place to work. No shortage of interesting projects and exciting ideas. YMMV.

Examples: Just last week I had 2 magical techy conversations with random, total strangers at hole-in-the-wall lunch places. (Definitely not places frequented by big names like Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, et. al.)

Random Guy #1 (at my regular burger joint) overheard me talking about an FM-radio reception problem. He offered a tech. explanation about specific antenna characteristics and RF-propagation. And then casually mentioned that he was the co-designer of the very first digital sampling oscilloscope (DSO). Kewl!!

Random Guy #2 (at my favorite burrito lunch spot) overheard me talking about an issue I was having trying to **really, completely** uninstall some errant Windows software (no, it wasn't Sage) and suggested a solution I'd long forgotten about.

Where else, but in silicon gulch !?!

I wish they would have found a better way to tell the backstory. The current-day commentary from the actual individuals was interesting, but the backstory and actors had a little too much "cheese factor" for my liking.

Too cheesy for me. I'm really interested in the history but the storytelling style drove me away.

I much preferred "Halt and Catch Fire" even though it was fictional and only loosely based on historical events.
