issue installing 9.1.5.683 and 9.2.2

I am trying to install on a newly rebuilt windows XP machine running service pack 3. I have tried installing sage versions 9.1.5.683 and 9.2.2 and can't get either one to install. I have tried right clicking on the executible and run as administrator, just a note when I run it this way I cannot click on the log file link when it errors.

error records from the 9.1.5.683 install

Any help getting either version running would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure on the first one but 9.2.2 is the latest anyway.

With that one, it seems the installer does not include Java 8 and it's trying to download from Bintray (which must have been offline). Bintray is going away for good in May anyway so this will need fixed. I built the last round of installers but am far from completely understanding how they work.

I can suggest two things with the 9.2.2 version:

1. Try running it again in case Bintray is working now.
2. Try installing Java 8 first then run the 9.2.2 installer so that download shouldn't be needed.

It looks like the installers will have to be modified to source the download from Github, or at least include Java within as an alternative. The build script already includes an option to bundle Java, but I don't think it was on when I last built them.

Thanks for the info. I downloaded java 8 using another PC and tried loading it but I am getting an error saying that the executable is 'not a valid win32 application'. Research indicates that the file may be corrupt but I can execute it on a windows 10 machine. There must be something wrong with my XP build.

Yes, Java 8 is not supported on XP, but if you can get an installer for 8u111, that's that last one that installs and works. Some of the later ones will install but crash VM s when running.

Question

as I appear to be stuck on a 9.2.1xxx version that the installer refuses to "repair" to 9.2.2, is my only option to uninstall and reinstall? Will that keep all my customization and Wiz.bin stuff intact?

I think that it should, but it's easy enough to take a copy of the important files before you uninstall and reinstall, then replace the important files.

Cool. I guess what I'm afraid of breaking the most is SJQ, as it's the backbone of many things and I don't think it's easy to reinstall at this point.

I can't comment on that. I don't use SJQ. My typical experience though, is that I can grab my entire SageTV folder and rename it to something like SageTVBackup and it preserves everything except for a few registry settings.

What version was that? The first released 64-bit version supported it, though not the initial beta test versions. I haven’t heard otherwise from anyone else.

I'm not sure of the version. https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/sho...&postcount=517

I'm on 9.2.1.826, just got the idea to check information.

Still breaks my Hauppauge IR stub tuning. If there was a 64-bit EventGhost, this would probably work fine.

Can EventGhost control your Hauppauge IR blaster? If so then there's a couple of ways you can use ExeMultiTuner to send the channel command to EG. That way EG does all the IR blasting and Sage never has to try to get control of it.

It's hard for me to know what "breaks" means in your situation. I built a bunch of code to forward the 64-bit SageTV IR requests on to the original 32-bit Hauppauge driver. JustFred was the one who tested it way back then.

Does the device not show up as an option to select for IR or just not work when you use it?

How many Hauppauge tuners are you running, just one?
