Talking HD200 Wireless Networking

Today we're releasing a new beta firmware for the HD200 which contains support for using a USB wireless network adapter.

There is currently one adapter which we have heavily tested and will officially be supporting. It's an 802.11 b/g/n network adapter from 'Encore Electronics'. It is model #ENUWI-N.

This device is available from many stores online; it's also available in our store as well for $29.95

G and N networks are the only ones officially supported; but it should function on B networks as well; although the bandwidth B networks is generally too low for video streaming.

In our testing we've been able to get 20-30 Mbps on G networks. On N networks we're able to achieve 40-50Mbps. These numbers will of course vary depending upon a wide variety of conditions including device placement, access point location and signal interference.

This device uses the Ralink 2870 chipset; so other devices which use the same chipset *may* also work; but have not been tested and are not officially supported at this time. However; if you do have success using a different wireless device with the same chipset, please let us know.

Thanks again to everyone for all the support; and we hope you enjoy the new wireless capabilities of the HD200!
