Easier forum links in posts

While fixing a typo in someone's url link in their post, I noticed that the mistake caused the url to be added onto the base forum address.

This first [url] code jumps to this Community section of the forum, using a full address:
[url=http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=14]The SageTV Community[/url]
The SageTV Community

This second version jumps to the same place, using the user's current domain:
[url=http:forumdisplay.php?f=14]The SageTV Community[/url]
The SageTV Community

Version 1
Version 2

The difference:

The first one uses a specific domain address (or whatever the term is) for the forum: forums.sagetv.com

The second one uses the domain the user is currently at. So, anyone reading this who isn't logging in at forums.sagetv.com can jump to the 2nd link while remaining logged in.

Oh well, nothing overly important... I just found the effect of the typo interesting. I suppose I'm easily amused.

More:

The above url linking style works for general forum links, but to link to specific posts and threads, this is easier:

To jump to a specific thread:
[thread=27188]Link to this thread[/thread]
Link to this thread

To jump to a specific post:
[post=236940]Link to this post[/post]
Link to this post

- Andy

Edit: stuck the topic for easy reference.
