Hats off to all of the SageMC devs, past and present. Your hard work certainly helped recruit a large number of converts to Sage - myself included

Yes, thanks for all your great work on SageMC

Personally I wouldn't have bought Sage if it wasn't for your great interface.

Looking forward to the future....

I love SageMC and I know your next project is gonna even be awesome or better! Just don't forget about Closed Caption and Subtitles in your next project cuz I am a Deaf Man and SageTV with SageMC is reason why I used it since they have the best Closed Caption support!

Ditto on that. The combination of Sage TV on the back end, SageMC as the UI and Sage HD100 is killer. Works great and I can make it look my way when I get around to doing that. Love it, Love it, Love it :-)

I'm a very recent convert to SageMC and I've got to say it's been a pleasant experience and the wife just loves it.
So thanks to all the SageMC developers for the experience and keep 'em coming.
Love Sage, love your work!

I just saw this thread. Sorry to see you scaling back SageMC development. I'm curious who will pick this up next. Maybe the sageTV development team?

SageMC will continue on in its current form. I doubt anyone will change it much from the way it is today although I'm sure minor updates could be done if it becomes necessary.

In its place will be something referred to in the original post of this thread:

As some of you know, I have begun work (with an amazing team of user/developers) on a new project named Phoenix, which I believe will bring some great new functionality and ideas to SageTV.
So basically, the way I read that is this: SageMC new features will not be added while development of this new "thing" is being worked on.

I guess this means that SageMC is dying a slow death... New features such as system messages etc... are not top priority so eventaully SageMC will die.

In a sense, I think that's an accurate way of putting it. Personally, I think the reason "the master" (said with every bit of seriousness) has switched focus to Phoenix is because SageMC has probably gotten a little too big to handle from a programming standpoint. I'm guessing that Phoenix is a way to start again from scratch and make things much more manageable. It'll probably be much easier to add functionality, without breaking tons of other things in the process. Again, this is my personal opinion.

Also remember that MC has been developed by different people over its lifetime. It's almost certainly easier to start from scratch than to try to fix bugs introduced in older code from previous developers.

It's easier to create a whole new STV like SageMC?? Seems like this is something that would take a while to do just to get it to where it's at now.

SageMC fans (believe me I'm one of those fans) should have nothing to worry about. But yes, patience might come in handy for a while.

The whole reason this development has scaled back is so that he can be completely focused on Phoenix, so we don't need to wait even longer. I think that's a very wise decision on his part. I'm sure that if something breaks in SageMC, he'll be there to fix it. As long as SageMC continues to work, the master can take all the time he wants. ;D Until then, I'll be patiently waiting on the bench for the coach to tell me I'm up.
